He qualified for the 2026 U.S. Open at the California final-qualifying site at Del Paso Country Club, finishing 6-under to grab one of four spots and become one of just 19 amateurs in the field at Shinnecock Hills. As a junior at Warren High School he won the 2023 CIF Southern Section individual title with a championship-record 62.

About Matt Robles
Matt Robles is an amateur golfer from Downey, California, who plays for Santa Clara University. A graduate of Warren High School, he built his junior resume in Southern California, winning the 2023 CIF Southern Section individual championship with a course-record 62, capturing four league titles, and adding an AJGA Natural Delights Junior Open win along with four Toyota Tour Cup victories.
At Santa Clara he made an immediate impact, earning WCC Freshman of the Year honors in 2024-25 and back-to-back All-WCC selections in 2024-25 and 2025-26. Through two seasons he posted the program's third-lowest career scoring average at 71.29, with eight top-10 and 12 top-20 finishes, and shot under par in both rounds of the 2026 Bridgestone Collegiate to finish third. He also reached the 2025 U.S. Amateur Championship.
Robles earned his place in the 2026 U.S. Open through final qualifying at Del Paso Country Club in Sacramento, where he shot 70-66 for a 6-under total of 136. That score tied for second at the site, one stroke behind PGA Tour pro Taylor Montgomery, and secured one of four available spots. He is one of only 19 amateurs in the field for the championship at Shinnecock Hills Golf Club, June 18-21, where he will make his U.S. Open debut alongside Santa Clara alumnus and PGA Tour player Matt McCarty.
